He said he could love me
and aside from all the romance
he would always be a friend to me
but where was he...
where was that friendship when I needed him
because the news threw me down to my knees?

he said he would always be my boy
and even if he wasn't always my man
that he wouldn't use our friendship as
a toy
and throw it away simply because there
couldn't be more
but where was my boy...
where was he when I needed an ear to listen
and a shoulder to cry on?

He said just cuz we weren't together it
didn't mean that he would treat me any differently
but I wish he would
I just need him to be there for me
ain't even asked for anything more than just a
hand to reach out cuz his girl was in need
but where was he?!?!
