"America's Oedipus"
  by Guey2

Summer Madness - Kool and the Gang

Sent away
his mom wouldn't let him see
his farther have his way
plus she feared he might kill her baby
one day
see couldn't let that happen so in the
bed of his grandparents bedroom is where he laid
thinking of the violence his
father once displayed
lost in confusion didn't even know to
pray
his Granddad tried to help but
all the boy did was think and lay
ah yes sleep he did do but with no intent to
stay
for in his heart he knew his
anger would not fade
this hate this obtuse mental wave
making him think of the one way
he could make things change

(A day later)
Pop is enraged
she didn't cook his meal
and his clothes weren't ironed how he wanted
he was so ashamed
vicious blows to her jawline should
rattle her brain
chop to the throat made her vocal
chords brake
no longer shall his patience
be strained
hit her to hard
now she on the floor
curled up in pain
but its her fault right?
wives are to behave
walks outside to noons shade
he was glad she made that lil bastard
leave yesterday
grabs a beer out the front seat of his
Chevrolet
only to pop his head out the window
with a shotguns barrel being poorly aimed
towards his chest cavity
he sips the beer so sure of what to
say
"Boy you aint got the balls to pull that
trigger Demonstrate! Drop the gun
so i can set you straight."
Prison flashes in the mind of the boy
its his fate
because a squeeze from the trigger
caused his step dad's
heart to obliterate
The noon air consumed with the fumes from
the barrel as it swayed
thing about a shotgun is the the bullets in it
spray
if the boy had taken time to notice he'd see
mom behind the back of this ape
silently trying to make him
take a different way
she was indeed to late not only in her soul
but also in her body did those
shells penetrate
trying to hold his mom crying unable to
situate
the need to kill his farther
killed his mother in the same day
Grandfather holding his grandmother in their home
thinking about a fact he'd soon surely hate
He left the shot gun loaded in the living room before he
went to sleep.
