"Another Musical Plea [Hip-Hop]"
  by terrenababii

They say rap is nothing
And hip-hop aint no better either
Claim that the genre is one-dimensional
If the concept even has any depth at all
They constantly mock and imitate...
our culture?
If you say that hip hop should've never been birthed
I guess I'ma mistake
You see, I stand strong by hip hop
And 'til the day I die
I'll try...to block their words out
But even more I'll try not to cry
As you speak about soemthing you don't even knw
I've found that when we don't understand we judge
As if God put anything on this earth
That didn't belong
Yeah some things are just plain wrong but---
Will you ever understand?

This culture, and yes, even this lifestyle
Has pulled me in and captured me,
NOW...
I mean, I've been on both sides of the track
At one point I was the easy listener
who just didn't care,
The hip-hop hater who didn't understand
[or take the time to try for that matter]
And now me, I'm the hip hop advocate
Stayin' strong, never do wrong
by hip hop
because no, we won't stop
Takin' this to the top..
Hip-Hop

I'm constantly telling my sister
That things can only affect you if you let it
But I know somethings you just...
Can't control
I guess the concept really hit today

I scrolled through pages
Searching for a little piece of positive
[gotta have hip hop on my myspace]
And all I saw was negativity and hatred
Toward my love
We've been through the
"RAP: RETARDS ATTEMPTING POETRY" saga once before
and I don't know how many times I saw those words
"YOU CAN'T SPELL CRAP WITHOUT RAP"
and the all so similar "RAP IS CRAP"
"I HATE RAP";"RAP SUCKS"
I even saw "I CAN RAP" with a gift box next to the words
Which just put down all the real lyricist
[because, no, not everyone can do it]
"GROUND HIP HOP"
"BAN RAP MUSIC; IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO BITCHES AND HOES"
[which truly isn't even funny]
But when I saw this, I don't know,
I felt inspired with a mixture of disbelief:
"MUSIC; IT'S PRETTY MUCH LIKE CANY; YOU HAVE TO THROW AWAY THE RAPPERS"
Question: why did you, little ignorant, spend your time doing that???
Instead of complaing and sounding real stupid
You could've been doing something about it
Ignorance.

I just can't figure out why...how
Someone could judge something, someone
a stranger to them
Tear down and tear apart
The key to so many's heart
The rhythm, the beat, the lyrics,
the EVERYTHING
Seems so...indescribable
Hip-hop runs through my veins
A lot of poets get cut and bleed ink
Me, I get cut, and have the privelege to shout hip-hop
And that, that's something you'll never be able to say

XOXO

///HIPHOP\\\

well in all honesty, given the fact that many love to enjoy the alleged trials of rappers but the fail to embrace the true essence of hip-hop. in my (mine alone) many rappers fail to acknowledge it's past (it's the only genre that refused to do so) and having grown up in a era where it was bout havin fun and straight spittin, this era allowed the record labels to dictate and control the culture. good piece

Man, this is what's up! I'm feeling this. You're so right. Hip Hop is OUR culture. We can't say that all of hip hop is bad because of some aspects of it are ugly. Keep on keeping on... 10 starz

whatever the genre calls itself the majority of cats who rhyme words with beats are the same individuals dragging society backwards by its immature braids with beads as a mouth filled with grills is stilled to the gills cuz bruhs are splitting hairs between what was is and what shall be in the rhyme arena if I had a bomb for one thing it would be for rap/hip hop/whatever you call this cacophony passing for music these days peace

This was dope. Definitely feeling this piece. So many people talk, but never understand. HIP HOP will FOREVER LIVE ON if it resides inside us. Excellent write.

Hip Hop is really point but then again racism can put down the Hip Hop music community though best believe that.Rap music can be a good thing or a bad thing though. It inspires society negatively on so many levels with the drug relation,n-word,and disrespecting women.I just depends on how you get influenced by it though.Ten stars.U raise a really good point
