BlackBuster has failed in so many ways
If it’s a movie about a hair salon
Or black people in a gang
Or anything degrading like Soul Plane
It will get overplayed
Why does B.E.T. tend shy away
From true Black Cinema?
“Love Jones” and “Poetic Justice”
Are just a few of the many movies
That we should be proud of
B.E.T. is another Titanic
Slowing sinking
And the people stuck on this ship
Are regular watchers
With their knowledge diminishing
Want to help the black community?
Put on a reality show where people are going back to school
To get their GEDs
Put a on a show that reveals a hard working Black man
Supporting his family
Or a single mother, not on welfare, taking care of her children’s needs
Put on something that shows Black people
Doing great deeds
But no….
Let’s put on reruns of shows
That people don’t care to see anymore
Maybe, that was the reason they were canceled before?
So B.E.T.
You have so much to do
To gain back viewers like me
Who were once loyal to you
Because right now you are putting a check mark
By each stereotype
That other races seem think about us
And they are far from right
They could cancel this channel
As this point, it wouldn’t faze me
I’ve already seem to give up my ratings
To other shows that amaze me
I’m not “Black & Proud”
When it comes to B.E.T.
This is meant to be
The voice of our black people
