"Black Child Lost"
  by 22dcentpoet

Black Child Lost
Alone in a dream
Clinging to hopes
Afraid to let go
Tossing aside fears
Not wanting to be scared
Bragging rights on fears
Chest puffed up with anger
Leaning on a wall of uncertainty
Back against a wind that blows hate

Black Child Lost
Wearing colors of rage
Running with shoes full of pain
Gloves made from fists of misunderstanding
Pants filled with pockets of anger
A hat that covers a head of dreams
Covered in a coat of veiled victory

Black Child Lost
No role model to look up to
No super hero to save his soul
No rescue or savior for the weary
No white knight that protects against abuse
No overdraft protection for returned pain
No safe house for the fatherless home
No hug and kisses for the motherless child

Black Child Lost
Looking skyward for a way out
Looking back for a hand to hold
Looking north and south for a little peace
Looking east and west for a common bond of love
Looking for direction
Black Child Lost

definatleyyyy a favorite,i love how you gave the clothing on the child emotional characteristics, your words really drew my heart a bit closer to the poem,i couldnt help but feel this peom...your words floated freely yet held so much pain..and the title made it just as deep 10 starss

I love they way you put things... you put alot of imagery...you got wisdom beyond years in this poem.. it said more than just the "black child was lost" it also mad me think... that there are so many black children out hear lost... keep it up...you got talent!
