"BLACK PEOPLE"
A PoeticSoulja and .Always.Catalina. Collaboration

  .Always.Catalina.:

I love black people,
but some days if I wasn't black I probably wouldn't.
I watch on CNN and MTV everyday,
things we do that we knew we shouldn't.
But we did it any damn way!
And I am not talking bout just young people.
I'm talking nice suit, well educated, money in the bank,
and goes to the church with the tallest steeple people.
You know I don't like to call names,
but you know who I'm talking about.
We do more harm to ourselves than anyone else,
but it's only when offended by other's that we shout.
Though quite frankly I thought this generation behind me,
was most definitely gonna be our destruction.
I mean these kids are INSANE!
but then I met a poetic soldier and saw hope for reconstruction...

  PoeticSoulja:

Black people are truly one of a kind
We just gotta change our self destructive minds
We're at war with ourselves can't you people see
Perfect example Bloods, Crips, and G's
Each generation seems to get worse
When will Black America ever dispel this curse
Black grandmothers age from forty to fifty
Why are our youths having babies so quickly
Basically our race has been committing suicide
All you hear on the news is black on black homicide
Posted up on the corner smoking weed
Losing their will to go to get an education and succeed
Just having sex and spreading AIDS
Sitting in school making these real low grades
I'll be that candle that lights up our race
My fire will be spread from place to place
Theres this one poet that possesses words stronger than Hurricane Katrina
She is an inspiring poet that goes by the name of Catalina

  .Always.Catalina.:

The love is reciprocated PS,
the respect goes both ways too.
But it's more those other one's that piss me off,
more than what your generation has tendency to do.
Let's take OJ for instance shall we?
He bout to go down for stealing HIS OWN SHIT!
Why didn't he sit his dumb ass down and count his blessings,
when he beat not 1 but 2 bodies?
That pisses me off way more,
because it makes it that much harder for yall.
The black folks that get rich,
and move far from the hood and build a big wall.
We become "them" when they speak of us,
like they not just nigga's in better clothes to the rest of the world.
Yall got a shitty deal baby boy,
because black folks had given up on themselves when I was still a little girl.

  PoeticSoulja:

Rich black celebrities seem to get corrupt so quick
Perfect example is NFL football player Michael Vick
Getting locked for participating in dog fights
The future for his former team isn't going to be to bright
I know somebody that might calm down this drama
He goes by name of Barack Hussein Obama
One day he might be the first black in presidency
At that moment some blacks might regain some dignity
We can put an end to all this fright
Black America just has to unite

  .Always.Catalina.:

Maybe over the years I've just become to cynical,
maybe I've been to one to many funerals and stayed numb.
The Bible says a child shall lead us,
and a child just me it's because we're divided and not dumb.
I remember thinking that way,
must admit it sounds familiar a little bit.
But narrowing down to just one thing,
is probably why we haven't fixed shit.
We need more than just each other,
we need to find our love again.
We need to find our fight for a reason,
and by any means necessary for whats necessary again.
We need passion for something
other than material things.
We need the kind of healing,
that can't be found in fly whips and iced out rings.
We need to talk to each other,
instead of talking at each other.
Like how we just did,
me and my poetic little brother.
