Poetry will never die. From years ago it started in the Bible written in style verses. Ancient Greek to Victorian to Old English to 20th century and now the 21st century, it still lives on. Poetry of the old age paved the way for this new age today. Poetry is a type of art form, its in music even in lines of a script for a movie. It will never die. It’s only one way to kill it. You would have to kill all the singers/songwriters, the rappers, the musicians, the artsy craft people. The free spirits, the teachers of language and all the political politicians making their slogans. All writers all over the world. You would have to kill off all the creative people. Poetry will never die.
Think about it, will you ever let poetry die or is it embedded in your soul.
Life as a poet is different for everyone. Life as a poet for me is breathing in words like the air. One word can mean so much if used in the right way. Everything is a poem to me. A conversation, a song, TV show, games, to people. Everything is inspiration for me as a poet. I am inspired by other words, pictures, beats from music, even from the rain to thunder and lightning; I’m inspired. Life as a poet is free and the best thing about it is that you can be a poet anywhere. From touching hearts and souls; to giving a message across, it’s endless to what a poet can do to help someone. Yes, actions speak louder than words but words from a poet are so powerful and sometimes actions don’t work for everyone. They get more meaning from reading something or hearing someone speck. As a poet I can help lives, I’m a psychologist/therapist without a degree.
Vocation as a poet for many is that they feel they were born to do it. Most poets became poets by accident. Could have been a way for them to heal themselves of pain and sorrow or they just started to write down what they couldn’t say. Every poets style is somewhat different. Everyone has their own poetic swagger so to speak. A poet is what he writes, how he dresses to how he eats. Some want people to know they are a poet and are so proud of it. While others are low-key, they are lawyers, doctors, firemen to the police. Being a poet is not their first job or love, but it is a part of their life; which they may just call a hobby.
A daily routine for a poet can be very specific and most of the time it is a process to them for writing or preparing to write poetry. As for myself, I write in my sleep; with my phone beside me. I wake to write things down in it, then go right back to sleep. Still that’s not the only time that the poem thoughts hit me. From truth to fiction, I write about it all. Having a strong impulse is what poets live for. Having words come to your mind and just flow is like the best stress reliever. Life as a poet is not about money, it’s about freedom of speech and expression.
To offer my personal view on how poetry is relevant to the daily lives we lead that may consist of a vast array of human emotions, let me begin to tell you briefly how poetry changed my life and how possibly it can change yours. In an individual’s life he or she will encounter situations and instances that requires human contact. read more…
As an editor, I am often asked if all poetry has to rhyme. The answer is no, not at all, but like every other form of writing there are rules. Keep in mind that some of the best work ever was something that broke all the rules. Poetry, while defined as the art of rhythmic composition, has prose qualities that help the poem flow from beginning to end. Before you worry about finding a word that rhymes with “formation,” you must first have a story. read more…
