"But Dad"
  by Moonman

But Dad!

When I grow up I wanna be just like you
no you dont son thats not true
but dad !I do your the best dad ever
your mind isnt developed your not very clever
but dad! im pretty smart I know what clever means
ok so what if you do your just thirteen
just thirteen means its alot that ive seen
but thats only thirteen years
but also 4745 days
o you think your smart
no I know I am dad thats why what im about to say may be a little over your head
Im always gonna be like you but never exactly
I may practically be a spitting image of you but dad I'll never be like you
I promised myself to be better and I'll make sure my children will do as I do
No disrespect to you but I've learned alot about life
and following footsteps isnt always the best choice
son in a way im glad this way you feel
good because since the begining of this conversation my aspect on life is go right and after my last word it will be still.
