A Grandmother to teach me what a Mother cannot
It was you who taught me to love God a lot
I noticed your butterflies even when I was younger
I admired them with you as our bond grew fonder
You took me to church and I hurt when you hurt
Your stories of how your sacred one was out doing dirt
Your joy was in my smile
My smile was in your laughter
I will remember you forever and every day after
I find myself crying, just thinking of you
I pondered if my Granny were here, what would she do?
I admired your beauty, your poise and your grace
It is because of your guidance, I'm aware of my place
You taught me that brains were important for men and women to have
For when love takes off running, you're smart enough to have that
Although we dressed nice and our name made a presence
It was you, the giver who gave everyone presents
You collected Angels and Butterflies. You left on the wings of a Butterfly
And given the wings of an Angel as soon as you got to God
Your heart was as pure as newly fallen snow
But nobody knows the Granny that I'll always know
I'LL ALWAY'S LOVE YOU. I'll see you in time
Watch over me til I get there, And keep me in line.
