folk wondering if they got my point
or missed it.

Cuz I feel like I cant
without someone believing I'm likening them to an ant.
If I type the phrase violent candy
are you gonna stop reading and hit her?
Like "yo this cat is getting at you family"
For that matter Cat
Can I say kitty cat?
if I did would it focus my whole poem on that?
Can I please write a poem?
a heartfelt tale of love
unrequited
without someone who knows who i'm fucking
feeling slighted?
Can I pen a hot joint bout politics
without those that believe differently
feeling like I'm spitting hollow tips?
Cause I'd like to write a poem,
one that touches on touchy subjects
but if I categorize it as humor
I get folk who wanna internalize it.
Can I write a poem?
A jazzy lil ditty with a point
with an R&b track,
that I perhaps thought of while splifted my joint?
Could I drop it at 12
not to make sure you see it
but because I'm up at that hour
Or should I just write to agree with
everyone.

My opinion of me is the grandest
without sounding stand offish?
Can I say aloud "I'm the best"
with out it starting ish?
Could I write that
a child was murdered by my hand
and expect you to understand
that it didn't really happen
that I was hip hopping and rapping?
Can I post my opinions
and trust that if you don't share them
that you keep your opinion to yourself,
unless you wish to wear them?
Can I write on my page,
and have the same amounts of views
as comments
( notice I said views as comments not the other way around )
Cause I know you read that shit
Just didn't wanna showcase that it made you vomit.
Can I sit here and pen all day
saying what I say in a way
that thumbs my nose?
Without wondering if I'm on toes
of some other creator of prose?
Can we all write poems
without a disclaimer to soften,
the sting that those that internalize feel
most often?
