another young brave man
sent far across the sea
prepared to trade his life
for America's right to be free
grant formless nations
a chance
to taste our democracy

"the land of the free"

- really?

was this meant

literally
or
figuratively

tears of blood
bleed down lady liberty's face
watching over our nation
and crying out in disgrace
understanding that peace
is something
her children will never
embrace

hatred and greed
has fueled the hearts of the human race
a piece of the American pie
we all want a taste

resources
that once flourished
consumed, now gone
the world is becoming
malnourished
and that leaves us taking
raping
gaping
holes in the asses of others
killing the ones
we should consider
our brothers
leaving for dead
in hopes of bettering ourselves
stealing out of greed
to expand our wealth
no longer concerned
with the nations stability
and mental health

we teach society
that it is wrong to kill
then ship our troops across waters
to devour third worlds
like it is their last meal
the sound of
bullets
and
bombs
they become so real
someone
please tell me
what it is
we are fighting for
please explain
the meaning of
such a hideous war

will we ever heal
this land of such waste
that could be so powerful
if the right morals
were honestly embraced
or will the meaning of
"the land of free"
forever be defaced
as we ship another
young brave man out
and watch his life be erased
