DARK COMPLEXION

Hello black and beautiful woman with the complexion so smooth and sleek
With skin smoother than the smoothest silks and satins, I’m compelled to speak
And at some time refrain from the rhetoric others let loose
Quoting clichés like the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
Spurred to dialogue and conversation, careful not to blurt out suddenly
Generating a verbal discourse just so that I can keep your company
Getting a handle on who you are and what you’re all about
Listening to anything peculiar that may or may no come out of your mouth
I’ll admit to being drawn to your dermatological composite
For it was the hook, the attraction and the gravity that would cause it -
To present itself into a situation where by we could speak
A chance to get to know you better and an opportunity to seek -
Deeper truths as to who you are and what makes up your soul
What about you is praise worthy so that I can extol -
The beauty that I see of you, both outwardly and within
Believing that your complexion is much deeper than the surface of your skin

Hello dark and lovely woman, of me you have my attention
One sided and undivided is my focus as I hold a great retention -
Of the living, realistic portrait – the work of art before my eyes
That has me engaged with a mind waged on a complexion to mesmerize
Animated sculpture of chocolate who is a welcome distraction
And like mere mortals held to earth by gravitational attraction
My gaze is fixed on you and your movement … excuse me for staring
I’m just so blessed to be in your company … thank you for sharing
A serene sheen shines from your skin that isn’t to pronounced or too bold
Which supports the statement everything hat glitters isn’t gold
But what hasn’t been told is that there are things more valued and precious -
Than gold and the like, with the rights and a greater potential to bless us
Dear dark and darling damsel that dignifies daunting dormiciles
Brightening up a room with simple shimmering smiles
Brining levity to frowned facial expression, lifting depression and other dreary signs
Brining a smile to the faces of others … including mine

Hello night colored curiosity, dark and delicate like rich fertile soil
With skin so smooth, looks like it’s been kissed with baby oil
Marvelously ‘melon-ized’ by design to be cradled by the sun
Colored by Eve herself and none else with a complexion that doesn’t come undone
A welcome contrast to the background of real life and times
Like the foreground of black ink to the background of a white page, I can see the lines -
That are to be read and interpreted along with excerpts and such
And tempting beauty that makes me want to reach out and touch
Evening colored empress taking hold of my imagination
Fixations on your chocolate covered form drives my fascination -
To want to know who it is that invades my sight in the most welcoming way
Compelling me to want to know more about you, whatever comes what may
Dusk shaded darling with a depth that digs deep -
To places only inhabited by the soul, and so keeps -
An element of attraction that causes my mind to want to engage
In the same manner of a curious interest in a book with the turning of each page

Hello lovely lady with skin, dark as that of a plum
With a personality just as sweet, repellant of gloom and glum
Like the wind, I can’t definitively say where you came from
But you seem to be more that just the total sum
Of the parts of the whole that makes you who you are
With varied experiences from a past in places both near and far
With a story to be told and narrated in due time
With a mind of your own, thinking outside of the usual paradigm
Evening shade of subtle smoothness with skin dark and deliberate
Whose presence is a message and your movements, a means to deliver it
Speaking in inaudible tones that can be clearly heard
… Getting your point across … without saying a word
With a smile that shines bright with a light that makes one draw nigh
Accenting the contrast of a dark, rich complexion that draws the attention to the eye
My eyes are anchored to a piece of perfection
Held captive by the beautiful curiosity with the dark complexion
