"Fallen"
  by Bud Edward

Shining brightly I saw you there
Suspended with a vacant stare

It's cold in heavens put so high
So far I couldn't hear you cry

Even a star looks to the sun
Complimentary yet one

On the day you fell away
I wondered how long I could stay

The world so dark without your light
No star, no sun within our sight

Shadows grew to take the place
of the lights that were in space

And if the soul shows on the face
the mirror displayed our fall from grace

Death was sure even for they
who lit the night and brought the day

For you were there and I was here
the way together never clear

The rose's thorn, the cross' nail
cut into the serpent's tail

Eternal gods went back to sleep
with promises they failed to keep

In the darkness not awake
No star, no sun, a severed snake

Magick's dead, the sky is clear
but the girl and boy are here

Will we learn to find a way
to bring back all we lost that day?

The imagery about the rose, cross, and serpent....well you know what that means to me. I see it in the mirror, too. I get a heart broken smile when I read this.
