Take a look back with me
As I spy on my iPod screen
Railroad cars sit silent and serene
But inside are boxes of steel shiny things
Now little boys learn to shoot forward
Getting nothing in return
Because if they faced the mirror they'd feel the gun powder burn
They sneak in the house with their first free toy
Mama's at her 3rd job so she can't check on the boy
And when she gets a day off you can find her ridin' in Henry's Cadillac
Cuz Daddy was gone before the newborn ass was smacked
Now fast forward and the little boy's grown
Doesn't know love or affection cuz he was always alone
He sees the beauty of a brown skin girl
But has no idea how to approach and show her the world
All he knows is the erection of his Smith & Wesson
The cocoa girl never saw her Daddy hug her Mama
So to her life was supposed to be drama
She lets the young man pollinate her earth
9 months later she was givin birth
As they stood there lookin at ebony eyes
Something clicked inside their minds
They never had a chance to change their story
But this new life they created was meant for glory
So like ancestors he raised his seed to heavens
And begged the gods to pour down their blessings
He kissed his queen as his princess lay sleep
He even shed a tear, it was gettin so deep
The next 18 years didn't go all gravy
But I gotta thank the Lord for the parents that raised me
