- Select one of your poems that you want to showcase.
- Enter the amount of GS Credits you want to bid per view (1 credit = 1 view). The system will show you how many views you can afford.
The more credits you "bid", the more likely your poem will be at the top of the page.
You can see what the maximum bid is. If you bid above the maximum, your poem will be in the number one spot.
You can see what the minimum bid is. If you bid the minimum, your poem will be at the bottom.
- Enter the number of views you want for your poem (We made it easy for you: You will be able to see how many views you can afford)
- Click SUBMIT. If you have enough GS Credits and you put in a high enough bid, your poem will show up immediately on the main poetry page.
- Your poem will remain on the page until the number of views you submitted are used up.
**NOTE: A total of 50 poems can be on the showcase page at once. If you bid lower than the 50th poem, your poem will be put in line and remain there until it's ready to appear.
-
How do I change the bids for my poems that are already on showcase page?
All you have to do is repeat the above steps. Our system will let you know how many views you have left on that poem. You can then adjust the bids and number of views based on the total credits you have.
-
Can people constantly click on my poem to drain the number of views I have left?
The Showcase is an extremely sophisticated system, it will only deduct number of views left if the reader has never been to your poem page before. Only the first click will count as a valid view.

A Soulcast is simply an audio recording of your poetry, freestyle, spoken word or anything original you want! It's no different from a podcast. I just call it Soulcast because it's different and it sounds cool. So, not only can you read poetry, but now you'll be able to listen to it!
-
How do I get started?
First, you must be a member of GS Poetry. If you're not, you can sign up here. Second, you need to create an audio file that contains your poetry recording.
-
How do I create my recording?
- Get a microphone for your computer.
- Get audio recording software. A good, free program for both PC and Macs is Audacity. Install it.
- Get an MP3 encoder. This will convert your audio file to an MP3. LAME MP3 Encoder is a good, free encoder. To install:
- Take the lameenc.dll file and extract (uncompress) it to a directory on you hard drive.
- The directory where you installed Audacity would be a good idea. This is probably C:\Program Files\Audacity
- Open Audacity and go to Edit > Preferences. Go to the 'File Formats' tab.
- In the bottom of the window there is a section tabled 'MP3 Export Setup'.
- Click on the link tabled 'Find Library'
- This will ask you if you want to locate the lame encoder. Click 'yes'.
- In the dialogue box, go to the folder where you put the lame-enc.dll file earlier, and select it.
- Click OK. You should now be able to export files to the mp3 format.
- Record and save your file. Use only alphanumeric characters when you save your MP3. Don't use any special characters such as (? # * ; : ~), etc.
For more detailed instructions, visit Yahoo's Podcast page.
- How do I upload my file?
- Login to the site.
- On your profile page, click "Submit Soulcast".
- Complete the form. When typing your Soulcast title in the form, use only alphanumeric characters. Don't use any special characters such as (? # * ; : ~), etc.
- Click the "Browse" button, search and select for your file, click "Open"
- Click "Upload". Allow a few minutes for the file to upload.
Once your file has uploaded, it will be added to your "My Soulcasts" section on your profile page. It will also be added to the Soulcast Playlist for all to see! Make sure your MP3 file is no more than 5 megabytes. Uploads may take a few minutes depending on file size & internet connection.
- How do I listen to a Soulcast?
- My Soulcast won't play? Why?
Sometimes your Soulcast won’t play file because it did not convert to an MP3 correctly. The best remedy that has helped other members is to use a program called Audacity. It's a free program that converts sound files into MP3 files. You will need to download two files: The Audacity program and the LAME MP3 Encoder. This should get your Soulcast working.
- How do I delete a Soulcast?
Go under “My Profile” , then click “Edit Soulcasts”. You will see a "Delete" link to the right of the Soulcast.
