at one point i had a meaningful life
a life that meant giving life to my son and
in some cases honoring his father
at one point i had a purpose in this life
a purpose that was far beyond me so i
continued to strive so i could be happy
but then one day i felt that
all my work had gone waisted when
i got that call that told me
my son wasnt going to make it and
in the background i could hear his screams so i
grabbed my coat with out even replacing the phone
i ran to the end of the road before i
realized that the call came from the other direction
so i took off that way to reach my baby
for his cries were still so fresh in my head
i got to him and i held him and i sung to him
"if you're feeling lost in the night when you feel your world just aint right
call on me i will be waiting count on me i will be there
anytime the times get too tough anytime your best aint enough....."
i needed my baby to know that for him i would
i would give my last and my first and everything in between
i hushed my baby's cries and put him to sleep
little did i know that i would lay him to his final slumber
