Staying in love can be a very hard task
One minute we bask in its glory, the next we wear a mask
To conceal the pain that we really feel inside
When the ones we love take us for a ride

Up, down, round and round
From “I lost my love” to “now my love’s found”
Leaving us to judge which one it really is
While they string us along with all their silliness

Nevertheless we strive to progress
Try to stay together in the midst of the stress
Not knowing if we are truly cared for
But we continue to love and be there for

Our other halves who may not feel the same way
Wishing they would be real and forget the mind play
It hurts the ones who really give their heart
When we find out we were never loved from the start

They fed us lies and tons of words with empty meanings
Set our open hearts up for repeated beatings
We finally build up the courage to leave
Break this cycle of lies and deceit

Our hearts are torn, our trust is worn
Maybe to the point where love’s an enemy scorned
Then it’s court adjourned, we find all defendants guilty
Initially pointing out their flaws and call them filthy

Before we really get to know their true qualities
We cast them aside not seeing the possibilities
That they may be the one who can change our train of thought
Open our eyes and unlock our vault

To the feelings that we had stored away
Rebuild our trust and bring our hearts back to stay
Maybe then our love will begin to restore
And we’ll realize that all this time we deserved more
