Its for me to say that I am an African American FEMALE
One that is not being chased by the law, one that is not up for sale
I am but what society make me to be
No! I don't prostitute to both he and she
You can't look at me and say " Thats another black woman ready to be put on her back"
Taking care of more than three kids and finances are what I lack
I can clearly say that I am but a statistic
I am one of the few people that thinks realistic
I am not any drug addicted woman willing to do anything for a quick buck at night
But in the morning trying to impress he and she thinking I'm doing right
Not one society has to look down upon for trying to better myself
Not a ghetto drama queen figthing another woman for my "baby daddy" that just up and left
I refuse to be yet another face to face with a judge becuase of Criminal Domestic Violence
Or on the sideline when speaking on women rights, NO I WON'T BE SILENCED
One that goes to a party but is anonymous and kiddnapped by a "friend"
One that died of sucicide becuase depression just won't end
Yet another unwedd teen with a child who had to drop out of school
Another that falls to Breast Cancear and don't take the doctor's advice like a fool
I am but another statistic
One of the choosen few that thinks realistic
I refuse to let another piece of paper determine how I live
To print my name on welfare waiting for that check they give
Society will not be my down fall in this thing we call life
They pressure me with nothing but pain, guilt and strife
I will be one of the few that was the strength to achieve
I will press my way, keep the faith, and just keep on believing
I will grow up and do the best that I can do instead of living my life so frantic
Because I am but another statistic
