""I HAD DREAMS FOR YOU SON""
by da black prince of p

"For nine months I carried you
With only joy in my heart.
Twenty years later here you are
Tearing it all apart".

"I had dreams for you son!
Dreams of you getting an education!
Dreams of you marching across the stage
At your high school graduation".

"I had dreams for you son!
This is not hard to understand!
Every mother dreams of seeing
Her son become a man!"

"I had dreams for you son!
Dreams of you finding a wife!
Dreams of you growing old,
Living a long prosperous life!"

"I had dreams for you son!
But you keep letting me down!
Here it is another Saturday night,
And I've been called down town!"

"I had dreams for you son!
But my nightmare came true!
For the body I must Identify
Is definitely you...I had dreams for you son!"

I had to make this a favorite poem on my list. Reading this made me hurt so much...for the real women who have to experience this. Experience this pain, this constant struggle trying to raise their young men alone and still keeping some sanity for themselves..

too much, too often...no one should have to experience this...no one..
