We live in this life trying to gain material wealth
While our character and soul have been consumed by stealth
We are encouraged to “live free” and “anything goes”
Just look out for number one…number two is on it’s own
We will step on anyone in our quest to getting what we want
And sell little pieces of ourselves, while we swear we can’t be bought
Those seemingly small compromises in principles that we think are no big deal
Become roads we can’t cross back over when we decide we now know what’s real
“If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything,” Martin said it years ago,
And now, decades later, the effects are beginning to show
Young men with no direction, not being raised, but spoiled by their mamas
Becoming “deadbeat” dads with baby-mama-drama
Daughters who were not taught to be decent and respectable
Dress nakedly with legs ready to be opened, while being made a spectacle
Got baby boys with earrings and baby girls doing Beyonce dances
If this is their start, then tell me what are their real chances
Of growing up and making a difference?
They won’t even have a point of reference…

I know my commentary may sound hopeless and gray
Because of course there is no way to go backwards from today
Yet we can move forward with our bodies as well as our thinking
And make some positive changes that help keep us from sinking
Into this world that has been engulfed by every evil, negative thing imaginable
Like a cannibal feeding on itself, the probable results may be unfathomable
But it’s allure and appeal is far too strong for any of us mere human beings
In our mortality, we can only believe what we have been seeing
Oh, but there is so much more to this than what meets the eye
We will all take our last breath, and we want our destination to be Heaven
To be with our Creator, the Lord on high…

BUT….

There is a catch, and it’s not about making yourself right
(None of us has the ability to win that fight!)
All he wants is acceptance of His son Jesus, confession, and belief….
That is really all there is (and trust me, you’re getting off cheap)

My intention is not to offend nor condemn….
I just need to be real and tell the truth, as I know it….
Because he was merciful to me when I was just about to blow it
Thankful I am, so now my life needs to show it!
