I would've taken Robert Frost's path less taken rather than straggle behind
If I could turn back the hands of time
You would see the receeding water
If I could turn back the hands of time
We would see Malcom X, Martin Luther King Jr,
and the overall overcoming of struggle as more than a vague martyr
If I could turn back the hands of time
Once again we would sip of the wine and eat of the bread
If I could turn back the hands of time
We would not have that weary feeling of being mislead
If I could turn back the hands of time
All of the lost, mothers, grandmothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, granddaughters, and elderly hands I would in present terms holded
If I could turn back the hands of time
The levees would've sunk a little deeper and grew a little taller as the weather
became even more full of malice and melancholy making it seem that much bleeker. Then maybed the levees wouldn't have bent and molded
If I could turn back the hands of time
Houses, livelihoods, and cities in this picture book of life would be unfolded
To bad I can't turn back the hands of time
Because in this weary times, despite poetic rhymes one must ask him or herself what must we do to get out of this paradox of chains and locks, Well humble minds don't sway in these recessed times of today, for all I can say is just pray.
