If I were poetry
Would you take me under a tree as the sun was setting
And read me out loud to the beckoning leaves?

If I were poetry
Would you cherish every syllable spoken
As if it were a 80’s Hip-Hop beat?

If I were poetry
Would you try to reinvent me
Into a stanza so brilliant you would be praised in disbelief?

I have so much respect for the power of the written word
That I long to be overcome with such a strength
To be looked upon as something to be achieved and appreciated
Is unprecedented…In my world

In my World
If I were Poetry
I would be words spoken at birth with rhythmic flows
So that new parents only need to listen and learn as stanzas grow

If I were Poetry
Concepts will be my hair barrettes
Commas will be my curls
And love will be my hair color
I not only would be heard
But also seen as a poem like no other

If I were Poetry
I would live just for you
To learn from
To grow into
To lay upon your white sheets
And become exactly what you needed
From what was never seen
Or even heard

I would be your perfect
