It's a commitment to self
An obligation more deeper than wealth
For we come from a royal lineage
And here an erroneous history is taught
Then to add insult to injury, the hand of displacement was dealt.
We are much more than skin that is dark...or
the sagging pants wore by young men in need of a belt.
From the Nile to Mecca...
From Ghana to the Sudan...
From East and Southern Africa...
Kings and Queens are who we are.
Sons and daughters of the great
I AM.
Through adverse treatment and years of silence.
To dwelling in the most broken down of neighborhoods
To experience White on Black and Black on Black violence.
We still are.
And trust,
Men try to stop our faith.
Have us believe their lies and begin to self hate.
Blemish our past, but they never would think...
That we will more than overcome without the need to incorporate.
We come from a strong family tree
Mindful of who we are and have the tools
to become who we need to be.
Try to downgrade me to a thug?
Try your best and use a lot of caution...
I'm a K.I.N.G!
Loved by a Queen with the grace of a cat
Wish as much as they like, but they could never upgrade to that.
Or share the past that we obtain.
They can have the glamour and the fame.
Because the story of our dead...
in our souls will always remain.
Our job is to aid our youth in practical matters.
Teach them about who they are...
So, then when they are told otherwise...
From miles away, you could hear the laughter.
And on education, to never sleep...
carry themselves with honor...
Be a leader, showing others to the righteous gate.
Being bold enough to be a speaker to the meek.
Then, let us flow like water.
And again our history will never die.
Don't just take it as truth,
For yourself, read, research ...verify.
Then come up with your own theisis...
This is mine.
