I do this in the honor of the many that had to suffer
Yes, times are hard now, but back then, it was much rougher
Sometimes I close my eyes and go back to where skin was an issue
The struggle was so graphic, I feel like I was going through it with you
I promise not to take for granted, all the things that you fought for
Because none of this came free, but things I enjoy now was bought for
A price, bloodshed, oppression, as well as the deaths of many
So that the torch & responsibility can be passed on & left to plenty
Of the offspring, that you tried so hard to leave a lasting legacy
But often we get sidetracked by, superficiality, envy & jealousy
Just be patient with us, as we attempt to escape the ignorance
So that we may know the life that we enjoy now isn’t by coincidence
