"Left Behind"
  by Kat Nicole

So I had you
And then I lost you
Because you didn't want
My wants
Weren’t seeing about my needs
Couldn’t focus beyond blind ears
and death eyes
We were traveling on two different
Paths
Different roads
leading from different beginnings
headed towards opposite endings
Yet all the awhile our hearts
Were in sync
We shared the same beats
At that same rapid pace
Where butterflies merge in chaotic flights
on Cloud 9s
during the first moment of sunlight
and dew falls gently on uncharted grass
Couldn't make sense of what went wrong
Never understood the frustration
the confusion
Didn't see the cause and effects
To justify the mess
For love is all I asked for
Craved for
Begged on bleeding knees for
Lived and then died for
would’ve even settled for less than
unconditional
non-traditional
if it was sealed and marked - REAL
Yet it was stripped away
Asking for a price that was just
to high for me to pay
My once sheltered heart
Only to have it abused
Misused
By someone new
another so-called lover
who cried lies of I would’ve..
embraced you
Loved you
Inhaled your soul
And exhaled your spirit
Only you see the chance
never got the chance
To give its all
To show its will
To provide you with its gift
Instead you wanted it to
Just watch from afar
While my heart broke
My walls cracked
My hope cried
And someone else picked up
These empty puzzle pieces
still fresh and jagged
still bruised and broken
that
You left behind
Connected the dots
To the place you once called love
Only to realize they didn't hold
The last piece....

It seems crazy that relationships start out having humble beginnings and suddenly hardships would start dividing communication, love, and trust. That's an open door for a broken heart.
