"Life of a Teen"
  by lycric

Smiling faces hold the key to a heart full of secrets
Those who you see laughing could be the main ones crying inside
Am I a fool
To express my feelings out for people to see
Should I hide them like everyone else?
Who seem to be afraid to speak?
Hiding in their pride
Or insecurities
Is that the way to be?
I want to know
Because it seems like being real is something that only outcast believe
To the fact that
Everywhere I look I see so many teens
Hiding their identities just to fit in with society
Trading in their souls for popularity
For what seems like in vein
Because when it’s all said and done
They never come out happy
But yet the same
Caught up in the world
And its twisted, wicked, reality game

BUT HEY

That’s just my perspective on things
Maybe I”M a little crazy
Maybe it’s not even that serious or just a faze
Like people always wanna tell me
When us teens fall under “peer pressure tame”
But yet if it’s just a faze
How come we can never make room for change?
Why are we still stuck in this same place
Where we have to judge everyone on rather their different or the same
Constantly and continuously have this mind set
On how were going to change our selves completely just to fit in with the crowd, society and the World
But why
Ladies
Why do we have to strip all the dignity that we have for an immature boy attention, affection, and Smile?
Is it worth being violated when we are daughters of God?
Don’t you think we should be treated with more respect and honor?
Not like a toy useless and forgotten
And fella’s ya’ll suppose to be sons of God leaders of the word
What kind of leader uses profanity in each and every word of his sentence, and has three or four different Girlfriends (with another chick on the side), and rather
Go to the club than the Church,
And rather rep crip, blood, or folk before he even reps about God….
I mean, are we that influence by BET and MTV that we have yet to see
That the artist we so-call love aren’t really artist but more of def poets speaking drugs instead of Words, influencing an whole entire generation to hell all because we rather to the beat of a song than the actual words ……

But like I said that’s just my perspective on things maybe I’m a little crazy
Because the last time I check I thought God judge us on or actions
Not our appearances
Because I thought who you were on the inside reflected who you were on the out
But I guess in this society it’s the other way around.
Right?

Its crazy how we ca bring people down with our negative vibes
Speaking words that shouldn’t be said
Without knowing the pain that lies behinds that persons eyes
But yet we still walk on by
With our heads up to the sky
Knowing were wrong
But never having the courage or the strength enough to right our wrongs
Or stand our ground
When it comes to our friends when it comes to the crowd
And it’s such a shame
But then again
Who’s the blame
Because I would be the biggest hypocrite if I said
I never did the same
Never talk about somebody
Or felt some pain
Never been the one to feel alone, confuse
Or even afraid
Because for so long I been fooled by the devil to think that
This is just a “faze”
That this is just the life of a teenager every single day
So fall in to it
Get use to it
Enjoy it
But I can’t
Because I don’t know how .
Because on March the 8th 2007 I laid everything down and I got saved…

So forget what u heard about me tell me what you see
I refuse to be another hypocritically static
I refuse to be something that I don’t want to be
I refuse to be another unspoken teen
living for the world and Godly things
See I refuse to be another boys toy
I refuse to be another one of the devils victims
I refuse to live my life like its nothing special

Because although this maybe the life of a teenager
Every single day
I refuse to let it be the life of me J-E-S-S-I-C-A
Because I rather live right today
Instead of tomorrow
Because I refuse to let this “Faze” be the reason why I won’t go to heaven
