I was told love is unconditional affection
brought together by supernatural conditions
that all that i wanted in life would be
fulfilled in the meaning of my wife's intentions

that soul mates fall in love at first sight
and their connection doesn't falter
that the biggest moment of your life
would be the minutes spent at the alter

But what i've found is pain
behind my blind love
and emptiness behind my past lovers
well supplied hugs

i pursued past my instincts and
found more than anything aggravation
saw that relationships i was "supposed" to be having
felt more like procrastinations

exasperated i have a theory that experience doesn't
give me the right to have
maybe love isn't what u expect to feel
but rather resolve returned back

take away the average person's selfishness
lets pretend we're all nice
and that every person on earth had my back
then what would loving you be like

would it be my fascination with your smile
my addiction to your energy
would it be that seeing the inner you so clearly
rejuvenates the inner me

girl i propose love is sustenance
your necessary for living
and in this crazy world i give you
more than anything unconditional forgiveness

i forgive you not because i have to
but because i understand
i've decided to love you and your
permission was not inside of the plan

now if ever you shall heal and give
me that in return
that would be perfection
