Introduction
You know it's funny how people want to get closer to God when
something tragic happens in their life. I hate to put myself in that
category of people; however, it is what it is. I have never prayed so
hard, and I have never cried so loud until now. I feel weak because
I am very aware of what's going on, but God has been the only one
getting me through the storm. This experience has most definitely
been the most complicated experience I have ever had in my life; but
I will not get discouraged. God wouldn't put me through anything that
I couldn't overcome.
I know that I can't shake the man that I love so dearly as if he were
a man I met yesterday. To be honest, I am not trying to. I believe that
he needs me now more than ever. Although it may seem like he
doesn't realize my true feelings yet, doesn't mean that he never will.
I sincerely believe that we are meant to be. God placed him in my life
not only to bring me closer to him, but to show me love, true love, and
everything that comes along with it. I am a living testimony. I'm here
to tell my story about how God can change what may seem to be the
unchangeable.
Chapter 1
Hello, Love
I was 17 years old when I met the love of my life, Robert Antjuan
Curry. It was September 3, 2003, his birthday to be exact. I remember
it like it was yesterday. It just so happened, that I was there visiting a
mutual friend, which happened to be the guy I was kickin it with at the
time being. His name was Deandre. Robert and Deandre were long
time best friends. They met when they were kids after being randomly
selected to be in a group together. After the group had disbursed, they
continued to pursue their friendship, and had been inseparable ever
since. Deandre introduced Robert to me as Antjuan. Only his family
called him Robert. I didn't even discover his name was really Robert
until further into our friendship.
Deandre and I kicked it periodically because he was always on the
go, in and out of town. He never really gave me enough time to get too
attached. However, I still had mad feelings for him. He had a swag
that went with his personality that made him extremely attractive.
When he introduced Antjuan and me to each other, I didn't really pay
too much attention to him. He was there with his girlfriend Shanda, and
I was there with Deandre. I had no reason to be showing him any
attentionbut who knew what was to come of us in the future.
Antjuan and Deandre had eventually moved to New Jersey to
work with multi-platinum recording artist, Wyclef. At first, I was upset
that Deandre left, but after time passed I was more than okay with his
decision to focus on his career. I had started to kick it with a few
random guys, but none of them really tickled my fancy.
One day, after my friend Jamie's open house, me and a couple of
my girls wanted to find something to get into. Detroit didn't have that
much to offer the people in my age bracket though. Half of us were
too young to do anything. So, after pondering for a while, we all
decided to just go downtown and ride around. To my surprise,
downtown was jumpin'. I had totally forgotten that Eminem and 50
cent had a concert. By the time we had arrived down there, the
concert had just ended, which meant, niggas and bitches everywhere!
After turning down every guy that approached me that night, I
finally got approached by the right one. He was fine as hell, with a body
more cut than an ice sculpture, and had a tone so fuckin' sexy that
when he spoke he made my panties moist.
"Excuse me ma, can I talk to you for a second?" His deep, sexy,
...
