The true character of a person

What defines the true character of a person?
Is it the way we conduct ourselves, the clothes we wear, our values, self esteem, pride in our appearance, or the opinion people hold of us...???
The most self aware amongst us strive to be the best we allow ourselves to be.
We strive to overcome personal obstacles, prejudices, and the general negativities, shown to us by the ignorant.
In contrast; The less self aware of us who seem to think that the louder we speak, the more vulgar we appear, and the brutish way we conduct ourselves, is a badge of honour we bestow on our general surroundings, I.E. the areas we were brought up, the cities, towns, country, or for that matter race.
To paraphrase Denzel Washington in his movie American gangster, "The loudest person in the room, is usually the weakest"
If indeed by being loud, meant you were strong, the popular adage would not be 'the strong silent type'
It would rather be...
Well I'll allow you to come up with that one.
My point is; those whom seek recognition from a society, tradition, or place, where other people through hard work, determination, and self worth, whom with humble pride make themselves and their community known.
They should not be seen as the true representation of a city, Island, country, or people.
They seek undeserved recognition by arrogance.
They don't represent the vast collective of ambitious, self determined, goal oriented, Kingstonians or Jamaicans as a whole.
Examples of the strong silent; the parents of the former secretary of defence for the United States,
Colin Powell,
The late honourable Marcus Garvey.
The mother of Christopher Wallace A.K.A the notorious B.I.G.
The late great Robert Nesta Marley,
Asafa Powell
Usain Bolt
To name just a few,
We Jamaicans should not be judged by the behaviour of a few, reckless loudmouthed individuals, but rather on the strength and character of the vast silent majority, part of which I've grown, to admire and respect.
