If you never saw the stars
Then miracles a-wait stepping out
Nighttime crisp, making breath white
I like clouds formed from chilling
And hands rubbing heat
Creating sparks that warm
::::::I’m alright::::::
Goosed-downed; feathers for no flight
Feeling like through darkness,
One can truly see
the pain…
walking city blocks,
burrowed heads trudging while pressing
stressing these visibly lost lessons
failure to meet eye contact transmitting
they feeling shame
but I’m not a judge
the warmth from my pupils translates hugs
offering gloves for frost bitten minds shifting
while still keeping distance
hailing cabs, catching opportunity
of lights on while thoughts run off duty
the pain…
prevalent in yawning alleyways
while tallies say homelessness is down
and I wonder why the lost are never found
when their amazing grace is all around
