"Patriotic Ramblings (Video)"
  by nywizdom

"O' Say can you see, by the dawn's early light..."
But no, Jose can't see what's is now gone from his sight
Cuz he's been traveling dusks and dawns and days and nights hoping for a bit of success in the good ol' U.S.
But I guess Jose forgot to bulletproof his dreams before wishing on shooting stars
For as he reached the border with bated breath his aspirations for this nation was killed
Unfilled desires lost in translation to the border patrol agents
But you don't need to study semantics to understand what's inscribed on the statue of liberty
"Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore",
but yet I'm not sure if Bush's team knows that this exists
Or maybe it's just that the inscription to him is like some ancient Egyptian encryption like hieroglyphics cuz this shit…don't add up. Give me an abacus, and let's do the calculations…
Cuz if immigration is the highest problem for this nation then the administration got way too much time on it's hands
Wateva happened to "This land is your land, this land is my land"?
But this song is now ignored, cuz this land is yours only if you lived here before, or else we closing the doors to the wanna be immigrants
Since I guess the rest of us residents are direct descendants of Adam and Eve who had there first seed right here on U.S. plains, but we pulled the reigns on the veins of their bloodline so it would clot and be confined at our borders
But wait, why can't noncitizens work for the federal government, but they can follow military orders
So we can deploy them, but not employ them
So I suppose that after they come back from overseas from fighting & trying to impose our supremacist ideals to those that oppose, they then get exposed to the truth that we will give them PTSD, but not a J-O-B
And not for nothing, but Bush needs to put foreign property far in priority and worry about resolving the problems on American soil
Cuz to me, one of the real weapons of mass destruction…is the price of oil.
cuz iunno bout you, but the gas prices, is rendering me lifeless
Wondering if my paycheck compared to my 80 mile round trip I drive to work suffices
But I guess that cuz the country has such a financial deficit, that it can't even afford to pay attention to our own nightmarish reality
Cuz I have nightmare rich sleep of always being poor
Seeing obscure images of me in war with a credit card to my neck…
Screaming GIVE ME LIBERTY, OR GIVE ME DEBT!
And with a quick swipe of my windpipe, I involuntarily pledged my allegiance to this card, and I will never leave home without it
Bringing me to the present time where it's regular for people to spend above their means
but there are no means to catch up since the rate of the cost of living increases faster than salaries
Leaving me feeling that a cheeseburger will soon cost more than the amount of its calories
While, Discover, Visa, Mastercard and American Express are punishing me like they were my four fathers, so I choose to address them as would our nation's forefathers
Cuz my credit report shows that I have a POOR SCORE AND 7 YEARS TO GO
Keeping me denied for loans cuz of my debt to income ratio
And its cuz my whole paycheck is blown on student loans,
So I 'm beginning view college graduations as natural disasters, cuz these loan payments from my Masters are destroying and drowning me, might as well call me a graduate of Katrina University,
And I'm realizing that the land of the free is full of interest, finance charges, and late fees
So while I'm struggling to keep on my gas and lights, I'm scared imma get a past due notice on my bill of rights
Forcing me to choose between con edison and the constitution
But the good thing is that all these issues keep my words well toned as I free them while I speak
Because they keep me regularly exercising my freedom of speech.

man..this was powerful. I think we all know what has been going on as far as the whole immigration thing in this country, and I think it's ridiculous. I am an immigrant, my parents, are immigrants...and im like, isnt this country built on immigrants and their dreams? Or is it about the color of the skin, and over time, they are no longer just swedish, italians, or polish, but just white? confuses me...but anyways b4 i write an essay in the comments section. You stood up 4 us, and thank u 4 that...
