I know it's time for 2008
A better you, a better me
Yet my mind continues to live in the past
Forgetting the mistakes I've already made
Who said that whenever you look in the mirror
That you'd see yourself?
A lie!
You only see what you want to see
Ignore what you don't
The truth is I've forgotten how to forgive
And live independently
Even though its the way I was taught
And old habits not yet broken
But when I see all the others
Their pretty smiles
Hear the joy in their laughter
The tears in their eyes are happiness
I wonder what's missing from me
The will to live and enjoy life

I pretend the world around me is a figment of my imagination
Yet it continues to evolve around me
Leaving me behind
Alone to my thought and dreams
Never becoming the reality of today
My head in the clouds waiting on that someone
Who knows how to care for a lost little girl
My babysitter?
No one complies to that duty in this world
Who will teach to one who is naive to the world around him
Or is there no one kind enough
To teach them cruelty anymore...
