I stare off into space and say to myself
Why do I think of you and no one else
My boyfriend's behind me let me focus on him
Before he comes to find out my sin

A phone call to you in the middle of the evening
Oops I forgot gotta call my boyfriend at 8:30
Heard the other line guess he beat me to the call
It's 8:41 I am late after all

I pick up the phone, Hello hello
He answers and says its 8:41 you know?
I say I'm sorry babe must've fell asleep
He says ok as long as you were dreamin' of me

Another day at school you look nice in those jeans
Boyfriend's coming but after school meet me behind those trees
Boyfriend comes along and says "you look cute."
I sarcastically smile smile and say "so do you"

Out of his pocket he pulls out two tickets for the movies
I quickly say I promised I'd help my brother with something
He says "yeah I rememeber his internship right?"
I say "yup that's it and his interview's tonight."

He tells me "ok go on and help him ."
"you are more his sister than you are my girlfriend."
I think to myself I'm barely your girlfriend
And I wonder if he'll evr know I'm not feeling him

Afetr school I met my man by the trees like I said
This guy is so right and the other one is so dead
But I'll sile in his face til I feel I can tell him
Or stick it out til he comes out of denial

Three months later he is still in the dark
He still seemed to think that he had my heart
He still always thought my smile wasfor him
Well it's not right now and it wasn't back then

We walk around together costantly holding hands
I really don't know how much more I can stand
But I guess unfortunately I'll continue to lie
I'll be the only one for him at least in his mind
