Sittin in the grass
outside
in front of the cafeteria
at MHS
i missed my childhood
it reminded of them summer days
when i was little
sittin on my swingset
watchin Dad mow the grass
i remember sayin "ouch"
when things from the lawn mower
would ricochet and hit me
in my legs
leaving many war wounds
it reminded me of the
countless nights
i spent in my sisters
pink
daybed waitin for the
madness
to end
it reminded me of
the thoughts
i had
the want to have peace;
sitting in the grass
outside
in front of the cafeteria
at MHS
it reminded me of
those fall days
when my sister
and i
would rack leaves and
hide
in the pile
it reminded me of
my childhood
the good times
when
there were no worries
it reminded me of
Daddy
when i was his
world
when i was the
only thing he
needed to get by
when we got along
when we went
fishin
our trips to the
riverfront
in STL
the good times
the
GREAT
times
i miss them
my childhood
like
when i was
sittin in the grass
outside
in front of the cafeteria
at MHS
