"Sunshine"
  by Miss T
listen to soulcast

This girl I’ll call her sunshine cause I don’t know her name
But looking at her you would know that her claim to fame aint
A College degree
that’s not how she plans to maintain her green
In her mind her family has to eat
But should that really be her job

See she is only a teen
More like preteen
That’s the oldest of three
She chose this hustle
Because she watches too much damn t.v.

Players Club
Menace to Society
Got her mind warped into thinking
Things that she shouldn’t be thinking at her age
Every hood novel in the library
She’s committed to memory
Never thinking about the ending
Not knowing that not all girls end up like Ebony

She was the lucky one but after all
someone wrote the story to her life
The only actors in this little girls life
Are her parents
Momma is a druggie
And her Daddy got three other families

The last time momma went out she promised
her that it was the last time
But baby girl refuse to cry
She wiped her lil brothers eyes and told em’
Things would be fine
In due time
Things would be fine

And this fine led her to a life of crime
Sleeping with grown ass men
Because the beds they’ve made have no consequence
The clothes on her back she boosted
Escaped the cops cause they just knew she was
too young and too cute to do those things
But she’s
Headed to a early grave
Playing roles shes become accustom to
Every thing from prostitute
to being her mama’s pusher

Just to save
Her family
And if I could I would rewrite her story
Give her the childhood she’s been missing
Cause this little girl
Has been gone too long

Man... that last verse is the reason I write the inspirational pieces I write because just for that moment, we have the power to rewrite someone's history (maybe even their future)... You did an amazing job on this one Miss T... beautiful write.
