"The Jena 6 Catalyst"
  by momowilly
listen to soulcast

:Free the Jena 6!" is the public outcry
Though the six represent more multiplied
They lie about racism being of the past
Yet nooses hang from trees on the way to class
The sash of school colors, ropes swing with pride
No blacks can sit in the trees shade and hide?
Their hides are in danger, or so whitey says
We’ll hang you, nigger, poking out mighty chests
The unrest of the community, finally there’s a mutiny
Blacks band together as a result of the impunity
Is this the opportunity to examine race relations
Segregation of neighborhoods, shops and patrons?
The masons and KKK been simmering long
Setting up our demise, pushing style of Donkey Kong
Songs that we sing, monkey coon type fare
Bombarded with buffoonery on blast everywhere
Do we dare push past understanding, get to fixing
No grand standing, outside with signs picketing
Speeches so riveting for cameras crowds pack in
Surrounding media pimps Sharpton and Jackson
They cracking whips, ringmasters of this damn circus
Making no meeting of minds in the media like we worthless
It hurts us, the deliberate dissention in the Diaspora
Fighting for words instead of verbs in every forum
Lacking focus, they blow us away with their rhetoric
They want us to wear shirts with Scarlet N lettering
In weathering these race storms we need protection
Let’s come together instead a’ pointing to the next one
Grab ya teks, son, I don’t propose civil war, though I ain’t opposed
The revolution will be televised like black students hosed
Going to school in times when the fountains were named
Coming on the heels of times when our people were maimed
Now fame has ya’ll thinking we equal, ain’t that a shame
They know we’re superior, given God’s gifts to play this game
So, when you see racial conflict remember it’s just the same
History repeats itself, sitting by, nothing can change
Let’s start with secret meetings with plans to make a way
Black people can I reach you or will you just wait for another day?

having been outraged bout the entire thing, it took a grassroots effort to make it happen, either way, we gotta understand that there are many "hidden" jena six issues that need uncovered.
