Time don’t run as the sun sets itself
As the thoughts of two diving imperfect
Adding and multiplying are seriously not a bet
But at chances stare, my gear is back on the shelf
No finer things can capture the essence of time
Jewelry or cars, not even money’s sensational flash
But only tearful jerks that leave your heart with one hateful task
Caught in a fix, caught in a trap, more or less caught in a bind
Grievance over time is all that is left to spare
My misshapen value was just not meant to be
As much as I wanted time on my arm for the whole world to see
But as always, time looked in my face and just didn’t care
Time has a love that hands are set upon
It’s a stubborn old fool with a stupid, stupid song
