"War at ease"
A stranger and mzembe Collaboration

  mzembe:

there are children standing here
arms streched up in the sky
tears drying on their face,he has
been here

brothers layjng in shallow graves,
fathers no more brave and children
hiding in caves becoz they know he
has been here

The smell of death is in the air, colour
of blood light the sky and sadly there
are no more lies and its another famelies
turn to die,the youngest child afraid to cry says
he has been here

  stranger:

Eyes are full of dust
mankind cannot see
men full of lust
know not how to be
love taught us all
could have made us free

inexorably headed
to unprecedented disaster
knowing what's needed
but none can muster

we were warned
some thousands years ago
but we have harmed
the truth and so...

few told us
this not the way to live
so we killed them
and pretend to thrive

understanding by the few
but the masses drove the show
followed 'leaders'
to their due

followed usury and fear
false promises every year
to exploit of every need
selling of most souls for greed

So in placeof peace
we've wars
yet the liars
exercise their jaws

instead of plenty every nation
we have gluttony and starvation

instead of justice it is bent
and we have disenfranchisement

instead of carng we have hate
and it leads to its
inevitable fate

instead of sharing people free
we have inequality

So now we pay the price of this
misery in place of bliss

of living with years without correction
watching the ever-increasing corruption

terrible end to mankind in this earth
how plenty was turned into dearth

because we would not stand en masse
rejecting all thats' crass

for love and truth to rule our world
no banner ever was unfurled

we let the bankers make the rules
let them make us into fools

setting man 'gainst every man
until few can understand

destroying everything we prize
in the name of the power of lies

So the power of love we miss
for the power of false promises

The hope is that the love we know inside is real
that it shows us our God
that it is beyond life as we know it
that it is beyond the destruction of this earth
which mankind has already assured by means of greed and inequality
the irony for the many
that still only few believe in love
but as Jesus has said
it is enough that a remnant few do so
that is all God requires from this terrible earth
as evil shows it cannot run a world
by its ways
but fails
It will not get another chance to destroy mankind again
after the destruction
love will become the way of the masses
and life will be so good
for those who love
just to prove
there alwyas was
a better way
that few already live
whiolst most now despise those who love as weak
as exploitable

the future then rests in the hands of those who know the power
of love and truth
not in the hands of those who believe the lies
which dominate our earth today...

  mzembe:

Who is he,what does he want?
before we blame him,we must
know his name,does he want
fame or to bring shame on earth?
What is he?hel or doom

  stranger:

His name is that He time-less be
in time is want
not when we're free
want is like us illusory
He says forgive
and freely so
but men will blame
we little know

For what we did
His ways are hid
we live by lies
with failing eyes
we hide our hearts
and truth departs
what point we judge
is aught but sludge?

Hell's just a sleep
most people keep
freed from all sins
love's way begins

We worship whateever we respect
at judging God we are inept
we see not reasons for our pain
we have not love but just disdain
even our role most cannot see
blind lead in blind inanity
life wends its way mechanically
before the end we all shall see
and understand the prophecy
for now it's writ for all to see
read as you will
te words are free...

" Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: c
ondemn not, and ye shall not be condemned:
forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:"
[Luke 6:37 ]

" For he that is dead is freed from sin."
[Romans 6:7]

" ... and it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
your young men shall see visions:"
[Joel 2:28]

" Howbeit when he,
the Spirit of truth,
is come,
he will guide you into all truth:"
[John 16:13]

Indeed the paradox is that we are collusive with war in our name despite our hearts... indeed there is a war fought daily by the machinations of our money system unjustly against the poor made poor by the system.... we acquiesce for sake of ease, but inside we know we do not agree , jsut do not stop agreeing by defaulting on stoipping...

The title of this poem 'War At Ease' is a paradox of the oxymoron kind. I like the line 'Life wends its way mechanically'. It feels like we are living inside a machine trying to avoid the unforgiving cogs that grind together and war is the industrial accident waiting to happen. WE'RE DOOMED!
