"When you see a young black man"
  by ThepureBlackpoet

When you see a young black man,
Tell me, what you see,
Do you see his pain and suffering?
Heart wrenching Great depression,
That stemmed before the recession,
The hurricane flood of poverty, and no sand bags,
For his river banks; what do you see?
Do you see the young black Rodney kings,
Do you see him lost and confused on what path to choose,
Do you see him walking away, yet his soul trapped in the streets,
Do you see his feeling, like he's been cheated of his blessings,
Do you see his rage, for being falsely kept in a cage?
Lost in his own negligence, as he imitates a life,
That’s lived in movie and rap videos,
When you see a young black man,
Do you see his inability to emancipate his mind?
So therefore he’s still stuck in slavery,
And his eyes light up by shiny things,
And willing to sell his soul just to get it,
When you see a young black man,
Do you see the genocide of his kind?
Posting videos on youtube doing stupid dances,
Their way of sending a message to the masses,
When you see a young black man,
Tell me, what you see,
Them In need of help, but unwilling to help themselves,
And only apply mathematics when it comes to coke and weed,
Produce babies and left them alone with an abused lady,
When you see a young black man,
Do you see the ones who live up to their responsibilities?
And walk a righteous path in life, with no casualties,
Tell me, what you see,
Do you see their hunger for more?
And intolerance of coming home to empty stomachs,
Seeking means and ways just to come up,
Even if they rob, steal and kill,
When you see a young black man,
Tell me, what you see,
Do see the proof in the pudding,
But they got lost on their way to the bakery,
When I see my brothers, I see so many things,
Too much for this page, For them I just Pray.
