Why does it appear that God
has Turned Away from Us?

There have been many major, world-shaking incidents over the last couple of years. From the September 11th airplane crashes in the world trade center and other very notable establishments, to all the devastating tsunamis all over the world, and the entire Hurricane Katrina incident, this is only a few. A big debate arose asking the question, “Why does it appear that God has turned away from us”? Many people are finding it easy to say, “God has turned away from us, or He shouldn’t have allowed these things to happen”.
The question again is "Why does it appear that God has turned away from us”? Deep question, but requires a somewhat simple answer. God has never turned away from us and He never will. We have turned away from the One True Living God. As Christians in this modern era, we have our mind focused on so many things. We are a fast pace society. From quick and easy instant microwavable meals, to high speed Internet, to always being busy at work and zooming and speeding to here and then to there. We never settle down long enough, to enjoy Gods power. We want things to happen the way we live. We want everything to be so instant and high-speed. We are a fast paced, high-speed, never slowing down society. God doesn't work like that, it would be nice if the all-powerful God worked at the snap of our fingers, but that's not the case. God isn't a genie, that we can just rub next to, and ask for something and it magically appears.
Oh yes, God can perform supernatural blessings and healings and things can happen instantly. If that happened, we would get complacent. We surely wouldn't have any faith if all our blessings came instantly. Faith; is totally believing in something even though it is not there in the natural.
Our modern society really doesn't utilize faith. With all the electronics, with all the advancements, with all the knowledge upon the face of the earth, anything we want is just about at the snap of our fingers. With so much speed and now with such an easy way to get information and to get things done, WHY HAVEN'T WE SLOWED DOWN THEN?
Products and resources are designed now to be able to get things done faster, but we still don't have time for anything.
We don't have time for family, any time for ourselves, and especially any time for GOD. God should be our first priority from the on start of the day. By the end of the day we haven't given Him any time, so we try to give Him our last five minutes while we are lying in bed. We give God a quick, sorry prayer that we pray just to say that I have prayed for the day. We are just running through the motions in our Christian living. We expect things to happen in our life, but we give God so little. We look for help in all the wrong places; when God already gave us a manual on daily living.
The bible is our weapon, our friend, our sword, our manual on living on this foreign ground call earth. Instead of seeking help through the TV talk shows, family and friends, we should read the Holy word for our self and find out what to do. When Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, he left us a companion, that companion is the Holy Spirit. If we let the Holy Spirit, come into our life the Spirit of God will guide us and lead us in the right direction on everything. You see, we aren’t made for earth, this is only temporary stomping grounds. Our true home is heaven, heaven is eternity, and earth is only for a short period. We should be living our life to spend eternity in heaven.
All throughout the bible, it teaches and preaches that we reap what we sew, if we don't have any spiritual, physical, financial, seeds planted, how we expect to receive any blessings.
In the same line of reaping and sowing, there is another side to it. If we plant positive things, positive things are going to sprout in our life. Doing positive things bring forth positive results. That is the way it work on the positive things, then how do we expect to keep living the way we are living and not get any negative results. In the United States alone we can me classified as a modern day “Sodom and Gomorrah”. Sodom and Gomorrah was a biblical city that was destroyed for some of the same things we are doing right now.
Homosexuality, fornication, committing adultery, no morals and values, laziness, being stuck-up, and being rude was some of the things that caused that city to be destroyed. Sodom and Gomorrah was a city destroyed because of their sinful way of living. What will the outcome be for our great country of America, if we don’t turn from our sinful ways?
We can’t keep on doing the things that we are doing and not expect God’s wrath to fall on us. Again, all throughout the bible it teaches us “we reap what we sow”.
Therefore, the question is "why does it appear God has turned away from us". The answer is we have turned away from Him. As Christians we truly don't separate our Christian walk from the world, we blend in with the world so easily. As Christians the way we perceive our church, our ministers, and most of all, our true and living God is the thing that is holding back our true blessings. We have to put God number one above everything, we have to separate from the world, we have to put our places of worship, and our spiritual leaders on a higher level than what they are on right now. I am not saying worship the flesh of the minister, but give honor to the Holy man or woman that God has sent into your life. Think about this, if you, where at a football game you would cheer, scream, and give all types of praises to your favorite player or team, but the person that is preaching and teaching the word of God to you, is given less honor and praise.
The bottom line is, let us change our spiritual perception; we have to perceive God, our places of worship, and our salvation in a higher level than what it is right now.
All throughout the bible, it teaches us lessons on reaping and sewing, so we have to change that in our life. We have to plant more spiritual seeds, in order to walk in the total fulfillment of God. We must not put our Christian walk in such a religious manner. We are here to give God total praise and honor, that's why we are made. We need to slow down and just have our personal relationship with God. We must and we have to turn from our sinful way of living.
We can’t go on living in sin and trying to live as Christians. Yes, God does have mercy and grace and He is a forgiving God, but will you and do you forgive yourself after God have forgiven you. The guilt and the pain that you hold onto in your heart do not allow God to show His true glory in your life. Because of the sins you have done, you now feel down and bad, and you really are asking yourself “how can God blessed me the way I am right now.
Once you truly repent to God and ask Him to forgive you from your sins, God forgets all those sins.
As flesh, we still remember them and we hold them over our own head.
If we don’t hold them over our head, friends, family members and people we meet will surely throw our past actions back in our face. So, repent of your sins, forgive yourself, and turn and run away from that sinful act.
As a society if we focus more on God, and less on ourselves, Gods power will show more in our life and in our society. God Bless and Jesus Christ lives.
