You used to love to pick me up, buy me nice things,
Thinking this was the key, in getting close to me.
You gave me a ring, expecting me to become your wife,
wanting me to stand at your side, how could this have worked,
If you never knew me?
You assumed i'd prefer the finer things,
instead of getting to know me, you spoke nothing of love,
using material wealth as your resort, when all I ever asked for
Is understanding, and communication.
You preferred deceit, and deception, never did you mention,
my love for reading or poetry, but how could you be expected to know,
When you never knew me? We spoke once of a family,
only because I stressed the issue, in wanting to know more of you,
Until I realized you will never know me.
You never spent the time, you'd rather spend money
trying to earn me, when time was all that was needed
To learn me.
