You Still Continue To Be My Life
By Jean Roy
These ears
Listened to every word you told
And these hands were the ones
That held you in the cold
These eyes used to look at you
And see a magnificent human being
A sight so wonderful
The great perfection was so deceiving
These legs
Once traveled long distances to reach your side
This heart once filled
With love to grand to even be described
These hands
Had once wiped away your tears
These fingers used to make pinky promises with you
And these arms used to be used to push away all your fears
These words
Once were filled in your letters
These lips would tell you endearing words
To make everything all better
These tears once fell
Down my face
The moment you told me
You and I had to go our separate ways
Those were the stars
That I wished on every night
So that God could bring you back
And show you everything would be all right
This mind was once filled
With happy memories of us
But no longer am I able to
Distinguish pain from love
There was once a time
Where my life was only you
A time when loving you
Was the best thing I knew how to do
I wait for the day
When you'll come back to be mine
So that my smile can again awaken
Like how it once shined
I guess the reason why
It hurts with all my might
Is because even though you left
You still continue to be my life
